Base Camp Outdoor Kitchen + Yurtle

Base Camp Outdoor Kitchen + Yurtle Campsite

Your hub for adventure, community, and connection. Nestled within the heart of our waterfall property, the Base Camp Outdoor Kitchen is the perfect launchpad for large group gatherings, family reunions, or intimate retreats. With a proven capacity for groups up to 35, it’s more than a campsite—it's your wilderness headquarters.
Incidentally, that group of 35 said it's capable of handling many more.  We haven't yet discovered its maximum capacity.

Your Group Gathering Headquarters

The centerpiece of this site is our expansive, covered Outdoor Kitchen, designed to be the social heart of your stay.

  • Culinary Command Center: A fully equipped space perfect for preparing group meals, featuring ample prep areas, storage, and essential camp cooking gear.

  • Flexible Dining & Gathering: The attached dining pavilion provides a communal area for shared meals, group briefings, or simply relaxing together, rain or shine.

  • The Perfect Launchpad: This central hub provides easy access to miles of hiking trails, our private waterfalls, and caves, making it the ideal base for daily adventures.

Accommodations & Camping

  • The Yurtle Campsite: Your unique sleeping quarters. The Yurtle is a reimagined, functional shelter built around a fascinating core—it still features its original satellite dish roof, renowned for its unique energy. It now serves as a cozy, memorable tent with improved access for 2-4 guests.

  • Expansive Group Camping: The surrounding cleared areas are perfect for your own tents. The site has comfortably accommodated 35 guests, creating a vibrant tent village with the Base Camp Kitchen at its center.

  • Site Amenities: The area includes a fire pit, communal seating, and convenient access to shared modern amenities like hot showers and two odorless composting toilet facilities located nearby.  It's perfect for families with kids, equipped with a unique tube slide, stand-on sling-shot launcher, and horseshoe pit. Lots of room to bring your own games.  Don't forget your guitars and harmonicas for the campfire.

The Legend of Yurtle: A Story of Focus & Energy

Every place has its story, and the Yurtle’s is one of signal and focus. Its original structure was crowned with a satellite dish, said to draw energy from the surrounding earth and focus the intention of the meditator who sat beneath it, at the very point where the transponder once listened to the stars.

While the Yurtle itself has been reconfigured for comfort as a sleeping shelter, its legacy continues. A separate, adjustable satellite dish—now suspended and tunable to the height of any seated individual—preserves this unique tradition of focused meditation for those who seek it, a short walk from the kitchen in the campsite.

(A dedicated page for meditation retreats and offerings is coming soon.)

Yurtle, “The Meditator”

Built for sleeping comfort, it’s a round tent (yurt) with a hard, dome roof.

Yurtle’ s parabolic roof was repurposed from an old Satellite Dish. The addition of a rain fly above the hard roof provides an extra layer of insulation. With a super thick, luxurious carpet and optional space heater, Cozy sleeping for up to four even In winter.

The upcycled satellite dish roof was made to receive radio wave energy for TV’s in an ancient era before Cable TV. Assume a comfortable lotus position in the center with your head in the focal point of the dish. Speak and listen. Sound wave energy is fed back to you with astounding acoustics. Sit opposite a partner at the edges of the dish and whisper. Amazing.

Now, take it to another level. Experience a meditation session where brain waves are reflected, focused and intensified just like radio or sound waves. Simultaneously soothing and intense.

Care is advised. You might become addicted to inner peace.
